StreetSense
Air & noise, measured while you move

Know what you're breathing out there.

StreetSense pairs a pocket sensor node with your phone to measure air quality and noise on every run, ride and walk — then tells you how much of it you actually inhaled.

Your exact route never leaves your phone.

StreetSense app recording a jogging session: live timer, PM2.5 reading with trace, noise, VOC, particulate, temperature and humidity tiles, with pause and finish controls.

Three steps, then it gets out of the way.

01

Clip it on

A battery-powered BLE node rides with you. It pairs once and reconnects on its own.

02

Tag the session

Run, Cycle or Walk. That's the only setup step.

03

See the dose

Readings stream to your phone and become one number you can act on: what you inhaled, and where the worst 30 seconds were.

Six things your phone alone can't tell you.

Particulates

PM1, PM2.5, PM4 and PM10, second by second — the full spread of what the traffic lane puts in the air around you.

VOCs

Volatile organic compounds along the whole route.

Ambient noise

How loud it really was, not how loud you remember.

Breathing-weighted dose

Effort matters: a hard climb pulls in more air than a stroll.

Worst moments

The junction, the underpass, the queue at the lights, pinpointed in time.

Session history

This route against that one. This hour against another.

People who move under their own power.

Pick the route and the hour that cost you the least.

Two loops, same distance, very different lungs. Sessions stack up until the pattern is obvious.

See what the traffic lane actually does to your lungs.

Riding harder means pulling in more air. The dose accounts for that, junction by junction.

The same loop, every day, finally measured.

The most repeated route in your week is the one worth knowing the numbers on.

Every node makes the map better.

Readings pool into a shared per-block picture. A street your node has never walked can still have an answer, because someone else walked it.

What leaves your phone, and what doesn't.

Does StreetSense track where I go?+

No. The phone snaps every reading to a ~110 m grid cell before it sends anything. Your precise route stays on the device; the backend has nowhere to put a coordinate.

What is a dose?+

Concentration times the air you moved, weighted by activity — milligrams inhaled, not micrograms per cubic metre.

Do I need the hardware?+

Yes: the BLE node does the sensing, the phone carries and uploads it.

How long does the node last?+

A full day of sessions on a charge; it sleeps between them.

Who else sees my sessions?+

Only pooled, grid-cell readings are shared. Individual sessions stay yours.
